What is Tine 2.0
Tine 2.0 is an effort to create a usable and stable replacement for
eGroupWare, the leading opensource groupware server software.
Taken other popular opensource products like KDE
and Typo3 as antetype, the Tine 2.0 effort
refactors eGroupWare from scratch.
The advantage of such a procedure is, to have a mature software for production
while preparing a new one which covers the needs of the future market.
How to start?
Please note that Tine 2.0 is in its initial phase and not a product yet.
At the moment three full time developers are working on Tine 2.0 fully
backed by Metaways Infosystems GmbH.
A growing community
around Tine 2.0 is mainly concerned with
documentation and improving usability.
Having realised this, you can
Credo
Tine 2.0 redefines collaboration by activating synergies through
high acceptance in your whole organisation. We achieve this by providing
an easy to use interface and enjoyable user experience on the basis of a
stable, secure and scalable infrastructure.
Standing on the shoulders of giants
After seven years of evolutionary development in eGroupWare, there
is a huge knowledgebase of how to do things and also how to never
do it again. Tine 2.0 is proud to stand on those shoulders.
Over the times, also the internet environment made huge proceedings.
Many standard tasks are no longer needed to be solved by ourselves, but
could be easily delegated to third party libraries. The credo of Tine 2.0
is to use external quality libraries and products whenever reasonable.
Friendly, free and open
The aim of Tine 2.0 is to be associated with the group of adjectives
like easy, friendly, fun - while still being stable and secure. We
believe that doing free
and open source is the best way to achieve
this goal.
Besides giving our software as opensource, we think that being
friendly also means to ensure a positive user experiance and to
provide high quality documentation.
