Ok, I'm in! :) I will be quite busy throughout february and march. Soon after, I will start this task. I will get in touch with you over the next days to collect some information in advance so I can add this to the KDE SC 4.7 feature list. The KDE SC 4.7 development cycle is starting off right now as KDE SC 4.6 (which is released in a few days) is already in code freeze.

Just a quick addition: Don't know if this has to do with this problem, but it would be cool if the connector could lay the fundamentals for Tine 2.0 plasmoids. E.g. it would be great to have a plasmoid to fill in my timesheets. These Tine 2.0 plasmoids don't need to be as complex as Tine 2.0, but could give access to some rather specific workflows for which you do not want to load the Web-GUI. Just to think about!

Akonadi is meant to have a single data source for contacts, events and tasks. Time trackings are AFAIK not yet implemented. But a simple plasmoid would be easy to do, Plasma already allows to code in JavaScript.

Pardon my ignorance, but ...
Is a plasmoid some sort of widget that can be used from a mobile device?
THAT would be cool :o

Actually this is quite possible right now: The KDE Plasma team made some real efforts in creating plasma-mobile flavor of the desktop (in addition to the already existing plasma-desktop and plasma-netbook). Plasma-mobile itself can run any plasmoid. There is already an early technology-preview build for MeeGo. Check YouTube to see it in action on a Nokia device:

To sum up, a specialized akonadi Tine 2.0 JSON-RPC connector seems to be the way to go.
So why don't we schedule a meeting (maybe tree days) here in Hamburg to get it up and running.

@björn: Maybe one of your akonadi friends also wants to join us?

I am going to invite them once we scheduled a meeting. We can also do this meeting in our office in Berlin if you like! You are happily invited :)
