Calendar events is not always synced using ActiveSync

Postby csvarer » Tue Sep 04, 2012 7:46 pm

It is not always calendar events that are visible in the Tine20 calendar interface is synced to an Android phone (android 4.0). I have configured my own favorite filter by "Right click -> set as Active Sync Filter" and even though events are visible in the web-interface using that filter the events are not synced to the phone calendar. Some other users have reported that it also happens for the default filter (they have not defined a special active sync filter). I can't see any special characteristics for events that are not synced, but it doesn't help to edit an event (change time or name), it is not synced after that. It has to be deleted and defined again before it is synced to the phone. Any idea of how to correct this, it is really annoying as there is a good chance you will be overlooking events you are invited for?

it would be of great help if you could post some more information about those events and the calendars that contain them. perhaps it is some permissions problem.

did you try to remove the activesync account from your phone and add it again? are the events synced after you created it again?

I now tried to remove ExchangeServer account at the phone, reboot'ed it and then added it again. Unfortunately, the same events are still missing syncronization. I then looked at the webinterface for favorites calendar and do see that it keeps the information about "Set as active sync filter", which means that the phone is recognized as the same device, the information "Android-EAS/5.0.2214293035.367923.360212" is unchanged. I have already been looking into the "Tine20 mysql db" and found the event that are not synced using phpmyadmin, but I don't know what to look for. Which of the tables and fields is used for deciding/controlling if an event should be synced? I do see that the event that are not synced to the phone is in the table "tine20_acsync_synckey", is there any of these fields in this table that could be the reason that the event is not synced?

I have just tested the new and not yet released version of Tine20 v. 2012-10.1-rc2 and ActiveSync. I do see that events in a public holiday calendar (defined in config.inc.php with fixedCalendars directive) and therefore visible by all users in the webinterface, is still not synced using ActiveSync to the calendar at the iPhone/Android phone. Is there a way to do that?

did you already install the final version of Joey (2012.10.1)? this should be working with it. if not, please open a bugreport in the tracker.

I installed the 2012.10.1 update in a test installation with a copy of our production database, and I have had some problems with the ActiveSync (the sync of email's made everything hang, including the phone HTC One S, Android 4.0.1, filed in a bug report). I now deleted the ExchangeServer sync at the phone and redefined it, including new selection of profile for sync, and it now seems as some of the events from the first common calendar is synced (not all of them), and events from the second common calendar is not synced at all. Defined like:

'fixedCalendars' =>
array (
0 => 463,
1 => 464,
),

in config.inc.php. Fortunately, this about deleting/redefining the ExchangeServer profile at the phone seems to have solved the problem syncing the email's.

Yes they are (I have defined my own favorites and selected that as sync filter). The strange thing is that some of the events from the first common calendar is synced after the update to 2012.10.1 (not all, and I am not able to identify a systematic difference between the events that are synced and not synced, all defined by same Adm user) and none of the events from the second common calendar is synced.

I will in a couple of days update our production server to newest version, after I found out that the email sync lock problem can be solved by deleting/re-creating ExchangeServer at the Android device. Then I will get back with a report whether all events in common calendars are synced to the phone for this calendar server.

I have now updated to v. 2012.10.1 and it seems to work a lot better with sync of events. Some users had to delete their ExchangeServer profile at the phone and then define it again. Then almost all events seems to be synced (and also the email sync then works) - there is a few users who have reported that one or two events is not synced, but deleting these events and defining them again solves this. I will get back if we see any new events that are not synced.
