Tine 2.0 Translations Howto
Introduction
This HowTo gives a description how existing translations can be altered.
It would give us great pleasure if you want to translate.
The existing languages are ready to download *here*.
If the language you would translate isn't available yet, please drop us a line in which language you would translate *email-address*.
After that we will initialize the files and keep them for download in a zip-file.
Download and unzip
Download the package *here*.
Extract the downloaded .zip-file. The structure of folders from the downloaded .zip-file must be maintained.
When the translation is finished, the directories have to be send packed again back to the requestor.
Translation with the software "poEdit"
There is a nice tool called poEdit (http://www.poedit.net/) to create the .po files and add/change the translations.
After installing poEdit you have to choose your language and to type in your email-address.
Here is a short introduction how to use poEdit in screenshots.
In this example you can see the german Addressbook translation.
Edit a poEdit file
Open the *.po-file you want to edit with poEdit (Ctrl-O).
Type the translated text in the lower input field.
In some languages you have different plural forms.
We need the information for the automatical translation in back-end.
For example German-language: 0 = plural (0 emails), 1 = singular (1 email), greater than 1 = plural (4 emails).
In this case the function is " nplurals=2; plural=n != 1; ".
Please notice: the placeholder (e.g. % or \"%s\") must be take over to the translated text. They may not modified by the translator.
If you aren't sure or the translated text isn't clear, please sign the word with Alt-U (translation unclear).
When the translation is finished, all directories have to be send packed again back to the requestor as a .zip-file named "translations.zip".

Test your translations
To test your translations on a live Tine 2.0 installation, you have to update the *.po and *.mo files in the application dirs and run the release.php script with option -t (if your tine is in DEBUG or RELEASE mode).
You can do this by hand or use the langHelper.php script (with options --contribute or --language)
