Can't access "Sent" folder, or return to "Inbox"

I, along with some of our organizations users, have weird problems with our Tine 2.0 setup. To start with my own user account:
I cannot access my "Sent" folder at all, even though obviously I am sending mails (not through Tine 2.0, but other clients). Nothing happens when I click it. The folder icon is transparent. Hovering the mouse over it says that "Total messages: 586".

When entering the Calender, by default my Inbox is open, and all is well. But if I leave the inbox, for example by going to the Drafts folder, I am unable to return to inbox; just like the "Sent" folder nothing happens, and the icon is transparent as well.

I can imagine there is something amiss on our databases but I have no idea where to start or what to look for. We are running everything on OpenSUSE servers.

Our Tine 2.0 version is 17.02.2. I would prefer to have it updated but we are delaying it since it is a critical application for us.
